KITCHENS INSIDE THE TERMINALS
Kitchens that trade from first departure to last arrival, and a curfew in between.
Sydney Airport covers a large stretch of land on the northern shore of Botany Bay, around eight kilometres south of the city. The international terminal, T1, sits on the western side, and the domestic terminals, T2 and T3, face it across the runway, linked by road and by the airport rail line. Inside them are food court outlets, Cafes, bars, airline lounges with their own kitchens and staff canteens.
Terminal kitchens are mostly small, but they rarely stand alone. An outlet’s canopy often connects to ductwork that runs through ceiling voids above passenger areas to a fan on the terminal roof, and that duct can pass over other tenancies on the way. Lounges have bigger back-of-house set-ups, with combi ovens, dishwashing, cold rooms and sometimes a full cooking line serving a buffet.
Access depends on which side of security the kitchen is on. A landside outlet works much like a shopping-centre tenancy, with contractor sign-in and the terminal’s own work rules. Airside kitchens are behind screening, so anyone without an Aviation Security Identification Card needs a visitor pass and an escort, and every tool carried through has to be accounted for. We sort out these details with your operations team before booking.
The cooking runs almost around the clock. Breakfast outlets start well before the first departures, and lounges keep hot food going through the day and into the evening peak. Fryers and grills on grab-and-go menus load filters quickly, and coffee-heavy Cafes collect less grease but more milk and sugar residue on benches and equipment. Busy holiday periods add a lot of extra volume.
There is a natural pause each night. Under the airport’s curfew, most jet aircraft cannot take off or land between 11pm and 6am, and many terminal outlets shut in that window or trade lightly. That lull is when the crew can switch off a canopy, pull the filters and clean the duct without blocking a queue of passengers.

SERVICES FOR TERMINAL KITCHENS
Commercial kitchen canopy cleaning and equipment cleaning for airport food outlets.
Tap any card to read how that service is done. Outlets usually pair canopies with equipment; lounges and canteens add the deep clean and the cold room.
Rangehood, Canopy & Filter Cleaning
Outlet canopies degreased, gutters cleared and filters soaked, in a visit short enough to fit the overnight lull. Where screening is involved, the crew carries only what has been listed in advance.
How we clean terminal outlet canopies
Equipment & Fryer Cleaning
Commercial appliance cleaning for fryers, grills, combi ovens and toasters in outlets and lounges, removing carbon and old oil so they are ready for the early breakfast rush.
Fryer and oven cleaning for airport kitchens
Deep Kitchen & Cool Room Cleaning
Lounge and canteen back-of-house cleaned top to bottom, and cold room cleaning of panels, shelving, seals and floors. Refrigeration repair is not included, so bring in your own technician for faults.

Commercial kitchen duct cleaning through ceiling voids above passenger areas, up to the exhaust fan on the terminal roof, with drop sheets and screens keeping the space below clean.
Duct and fan cleaning above public areas

Worked in the overnight curfew lull
IN THE CURFEW LULL
Commercial kitchen exhaust fan cleaning while the runways are quiet.
Most terminal kitchens slow right down after the last evening arrivals and start again before the first departures. We plan the clean into that gap, often splitting a lounge kitchen across two nights so food service is never interrupted. Overnight and weekend slots are available, subject to scheduling and terminal access arrangements.
Before the first night, send us:
The terminal and whether you are landside or airside
Who sponsors visitor passes and provides the escort
The terminal’s contractor sign-in and work rules
A list of tools allowed through screening
Where the exhaust fan sits on the roof
Your last cooking time and first opening time

WHAT SHAPES YOUR QUOTE
How is terminal kitchen cleaning at Sydney Airport priced?
A coffee outlet with one compact hood takes a few hours. A lounge kitchen with a cooking line, a duct crossing the terminal ceiling, a dish area and two cold rooms can need two nights. We price the actual kitchen and its access, so you won’t find “from” figures here.

LOCAL FAQ
Terminal kitchen cleaning at Sydney Airport: your questions
What outlet operators, lounge managers and facility teams ask first.
HygieneXperts does terminal kitchen cleaning at Sydney Airport for food court outlets, Cafes, bars, lounge kitchens and staff canteens, including canopies, filters, equipment, ducts, exhaust fans, deep cleans and cold rooms. Our insured, police-checked crews work overnight, landside or airside, and quote every job as a written scope at one flat price. We are based in Girraween.
Yes, with the right arrangements in place. Crew members without an Aviation Security Identification Card need a visitor pass sponsored by a cardholder and must stay under supervision, and the tools we bring through screening have to be agreed beforehand. We send crew names and a tool list early so your team can organise the passes and the escort.
Usually during the overnight lull, when the curfew keeps most jet aircraft on the ground between 11pm and 6am and many outlets close or trade lightly. The crew starts after your last cook and finishes before the first breakfast rush. Overnight and weekend slots are available, subject to scheduling and the terminal’s access rules for contractors.
We work from the canopy up through the access panels in the ceiling void, protecting the floor and seating below with drop sheets and screens, and finish at the fan on the terminal roof. Before quoting, we confirm where each panel is, who controls the area underneath and how the roof is reached. Missing panels are quoted separately as installation.
They usually need a bigger one. Lounges often run a full cooking line, combi ovens, a dish area and one or more cold rooms, so the job is closer to a hotel kitchen than a grab-and-go outlet. We tend to split a lounge clean across two quiet nights, so hot food service continues as normal for travellers the next day.
It depends on the menu and how many hours the kitchen cooks. An outlet frying and grilling from before dawn into the evening loads its filters and duct far faster than a coffee counter, and holiday peaks add extra volume. We check the filters, canopy and duct when we quote, then suggest a cleaning cycle that suits that kitchen.
Yes. We cover Sydney Airport and the rest of the 2020 postcode, which includes Mascot and both airport localities, plus Botany, Rosebery, Alexandria and Green Square nearby. Flight-catering production kitchens and airport hotels are covered on our Mascot page. Send the site address with your enquiry and we’ll confirm the timing and access that apply there.
Send the terminal, a few photos of the canopy and equipment, and your trading hours, and our Girraween office replies within 24 hours during opening hours with next steps or a written quote. Lounge kitchens and long duct runs above passenger areas usually need a site inspection first, because the duct route and access set the scope.
